Colossus UK Limited

Head of User Experience and Design

Please note: During my time with Colossus UK Limited, I worked on greenfield product development and business development designs. I was not responsible for the design and user experience of the company's websites and branding or the design of its public products, which were created by a previous designer and do not represent my work in any way.

Developed visual design and user flow for an upcoming greenfield B2C product. Conducted user research and focus groups to build confidence in the design. Collaborated with domain experts to balance innovative user experiences with established industry paradigms. Led both the design and QA testing teams, managed recruitment and handled personnel challenges, including redundancies. Mentored designers and test engineers. I transitioned the design team to Figma to enhance real-time collaboration between remote designers, developers and stakeholders. Introduced Cypress e2e regression testing. Promoted Agile and Scrum principles across the company; designed and built an upcoming commercial showroom project using Next.js.

"Besides delivering outstanding work and exemplifying professionalism in every possible manner, William is an excellent mentor for newcomers in the industry, including myself. He has continuously supported me in building up my skills and confidence, and helped me see design in a new way. I have never felt dismissed during our collaboration, and whenever I felt overwhelmed he provided invaluable support to ensure everything proceeded smoothly in the end." Julia Gacek, Junior designer and direct report, Colossus UK Limited

Working closely with product owners and stakeholders, I have gained a deep understanding of complex data requirements, enabling me to provide valuable insights and recommendations. I conducted rapid application development (RAD) sessions to complement and refine the business analysis process. Although initially hired as a Lead UI Designer, I transitioned into the role of Tech Lead within a month of joining the project. I took on UI/UX design responsibilities alongside a new design team.
